(現(xiàn)在分詞短語作狀語), the whole class burst into laughter and my deskmate's face turned red. After class, I learned from the teacher that my deskmate would have dropped out of school if he hadn't been helped by others (虛擬語氣)．My mindless words must have hurt him deeply.
