　　自從2008年我們四川發(fā)生5.12大地震之后，我就特別害怕地震，我覺得地震會(huì)震垮很多房屋，會(huì)讓許多人失去生命，是世界上最可怕的災(zāi)難。今天我看了《中國少年兒童百科全書》后，才真正知道地震是怎么回事。

　　原來，地震是突然間發(fā)生的大地震動(dòng)現(xiàn)象，就像刮風(fēng)、下雨一樣，是一種很普遍的自然現(xiàn)象。地球上的震動(dòng)實(shí)際上非常頻繁，大概每30秒種就會(huì)有一次，但大多數(shù)都非常緩和，人們都沒有感覺。我們能感覺到的地震是由于地球板塊之間產(chǎn)生相對(duì)運(yùn)動(dòng)，巖石層受到嚴(yán)重?cái)D壓，產(chǎn)生巨大的能量使巖石在瞬間發(fā)生斷裂，或者使原來已經(jīng)存在的斷裂突然活動(dòng)，釋放出大量能量，而其中一部分能量傳到地球表面，使大地劇烈地顫動(dòng)，從而引起強(qiáng)烈地震。地震開始發(fā)生的地點(diǎn)稱為震源，震源上方的地面稱為震中，破壞性地震的地面最烈處稱為極震區(qū)，而極震區(qū)往往就是震中所在的地方。地震發(fā)生時(shí)，震源發(fā)出的在地殼中傳向四面八方的沖擊波稱為地震波。地震波沖擊到地面，就會(huì)引發(fā)災(zāi)難。

　　我們中國人非常聰明，早在東漢時(shí)期，就有一位叫張衡的科學(xué)家發(fā)明了用來觀測地震的侯風(fēng)地動(dòng)儀，而我們現(xiàn)代的科學(xué)家也一般都借助地震儀來測量地震波的傳播速度，判斷地震發(fā)生的地點(diǎn)和時(shí)間。

　　知道了地震知識(shí)以后，還要學(xué)習(xí)地震發(fā)生前的提前預(yù)警和自我保護(hù)方法，我想，了解到這些知識(shí)對(duì)我們自己是非常有用的。
