　　what would happen if there were no power

　　ever since early the last century,electricity has become an essential part of our modern life.our industrial and agricultural production depends on it to run various kinds of machines.the modern wonder computers work on electricity too.it provides light,heat and power for us.if we want to watch tv or films or to listen to the radios we also need it.nobody can deny that the development of our civilization depends on electricity.

　　if there were no electric power,our modern world would be in trouble.for one thing all the wheels would stop because the motors that power the machines would fail.for another,many,if not all,of our industries would cease production.all the world transport system,in addition,would be felt on the world’s communication systems.thus our modern world would be impossible without electricity.

　　The vivid cartoon is based on the social reality. We can find the concerning examples everywhere. Some classmates of mine spend much time playing computer games, chatting online and watching movies through Internet. They are addicted to Internet and forget their main responsibility —study.

　　It is imperative for us to solve this severe issue. For one thing, we should appeal to the mass media to advocate the scientific and healthy lifestyle and avoid web addiction. For another, we should encourage every citizen to communicate face to face instead of being fascinated with Internet. I am convinced that human is able to use Internet properly and scientifically.

　　I wish to apply for a position with your publishing house .I am thirty-five years old and am at present employed by the Peterson Press, where I have been for the past five years. Formerly I was employed by the Raymond Publishing House where I had been working for nearly five years.

　　My only reason for leaving either of those positions would be to better myself and I feel there is no further opportunity in my present position.

　　The editorial work has always had a great appeal to me as I have some ability in writing and editorial work.
