Students: Dragon.

Teacher: What do you think of the dragon? A good animal or a bad one?

Students: A good animal, as we Chinese people are descendents of the dragon.

Teacher: In Chinese language we also have many idioms that indicate the dragon is a good and popular animal, such as “dragons rising and tigers leaping”(龍騰虎躍) “like dragons flying and phoenixes dancing”(龍飛鳳舞).

Do you have more examples?

(Free talk)

Teacher: Do you think there is dragon only in China? (Present the two pictures on the text on the screen) Here are two pictures of dragon,, can you tell me the differences between them? (head, claw, tail)

Say which one do you like better and why?

Teacher: Yes, the red dragon belongs to the west, which may not be so good in people’s mind as in China. So let’s read the passage and find more about dragon in different parts of the world, as we call it “The Universal Dragon”.
